IndiGo To Launch Direct Flights From Hindon Airport Starting July 20

IndiGo is set to launch direct flights from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, starting July 20. This initiative aims to simplify air travel for passengers by connecting Hindon with eight major Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, and Varanasi. This expansion is expected to enhance regional connectivity and provide faster travel options for residents in the NCR region.

The airline expressed its enthusiasm on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "We're thrilled to announce the launch of direct flights from Hindon, Uttar Pradesh — further strengthening our commitment to making air travel more accessible for our customers." IndiGo also acknowledged the support of Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu.

Boosting Regional Connectivity

With this development, Hindon becomes IndiGo's 93rd domestic and 136th overall destination. The new routes are designed to improve regional air connectivity and offer convenient travel options for people living in Ghaziabad, East Delhi, and western Uttar Pradesh. Previously, travellers from these areas relied heavily on Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Hindon Airport is situated in Ghaziabad, a rapidly developing area within the NCR known for its industries and proximity to Noida and East Delhi. Transforming this airport into a commercial hub aligns with India's broader strategy to enhance regional air travel. The new flights are anticipated to benefit local businesses, students, and tourists by providing easier travel alternatives.

Reducing Pressure on Major Airports

The introduction of these flights is expected to alleviate congestion at Delhi's busy airport by offering direct access to key business centres and cultural cities across India. As more secondary airports become operational, India's aviation sector is moving towards more localized air travel solutions in urban areas like the NCR.

IndiGo expressed gratitude towards the Civil Aviation Minister for his guidance and support in this venture. The airline's move underscores its ongoing efforts to make air travel more accessible and convenient for its customers across India.
