IndiGo has launched daily flights between Chennai and Jaffna, reducing the travel time to 75 minutes and aiming to bolster trade, tourism, and cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka.

IndiGo has launched daily flights from Chennai to Jaffna, Sri Lanka. This marks Jaffna as IndiGo's second destination in Sri Lanka after Colombo and its 34th globally. The new route reduces travel time to just 75 minutes.

"This short but significant flight is a strategic addition, which is poised to further enhance trade and tourism between India and Sri Lanka. The new daily direct flights from Chennai to Jaffna promise a shorter travel time of just 75 minutes," said Vinay Malhotra, head of Global Sales at IndiGo.

Boosting Connectivity

IndiGo operates over 2,000 flights daily, both domestically and internationally. The airline believes that the Chennai-Jaffna route will strengthen commercial and cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka. These ties have been evident in various sectors such as business, infrastructure development, and air connectivity.

The demand for this route is clear. Last year, more than 21,000 passengers travelled between Chennai and Jaffna in just nine months. This demonstrates the high demand for travel between these two cities.

This new route not only promises convenience but also aims to foster better relations between the neighbouring countries. With a quick 75-minute journey, it is expected to boost both trade and tourism significantly.

The introduction of this route aligns with IndiGo's strategy to expand its network and offer more options for travellers. By connecting more destinations efficiently, the airline continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity.

The airline's commitment to improving air travel experiences is evident through its continuous efforts in launching new routes and ensuring passenger safety during unforeseen incidents like the recent bomb threat.

Overall, IndiGo's new daily flights from Chennai to Jaffna are set to make travel easier and faster while strengthening ties between India and Sri Lanka.
