To cater to the heightened demand for train travel during the summer vacations, Indian Railways has announced the operation of special summer trains. This move comes on the heels of the successful deployment of Holi special trains, which provided much-needed relief to passengers traveling to their hometowns for the festival and back to their places of work. This summer, passengers can look forward to more convenient travel options with the introduction of two pairs of special trains connecting Mumbai with Patna and Samastipur.
Mumbai to Patna and Samastipur Special Trains
The first pair includes the 01409 Lokmanya Tilak-Danapur Weekly Special Train, which will make journeys every Monday and Saturday from 1st April to 29th June. Departing from Mumbai's Lokmanya Tilak Terminal at 12:15, it will reach Danapur the following day, making stops at key stations such as Buxar and Ara. The return journey will be serviced by the 01410 Danapur-Lokmanya Tilak Biweekly Special Train, leaving Danapur at 18:15 every Tuesday and Sunday from 2nd April to 30th June, and arriving at Lokmanya Tilak Terminal the next day.
The second pair includes the 01043 Lokmanya Tilak-Samastipur Weekly Summer Special train, operating between Mumbai's Lokmanya Tilak Terminal and Samastipur, with a stop at Patliputra station. This train is scheduled to depart every Thursday from 4th April to 27th June at 12:15, reaching Samastipur the next day.
For the return trip, the 01044 Samastipur-Lokmanya Tilak Weekly Summer Special train will depart from Samastipur every Friday from 5th April to 28th June at 23:20, arriving at Lokmanya Tilak Terminal the following day. Throughout its journey, this train will halt at various important stations including Kalyan, Igatpuri, Nashik, Bhusaval, Khandwa, Itarsi, Pipariya, Jabalpur, Katni, Maihar, Satna, Manikpur, Prayagraj Chheoki, DDU, Buxar, Ara, Danapur, Patliputra, Hajipur, and Muzaffarpur.
The introduction of these summer special trains is a strategic move by Indian Railways to alleviate the surge in passenger traffic during the vacation period.
