Indian Railways Launches Direct Train Service From Bengaluru To Rishikesh

The Indian Railways has introduced a new direct train service connecting Bengaluru in Karnataka to Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. This service, identified as Train No. 06597/06598, began on June 19, 2025. It offers a seamless travel experience between the southern and northern parts of India.

Passengers can enjoy various accommodation options on this train, including AC First Class, AC 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Unreserved coaches. Catering services are available onboard, with e-catering facilities also provided. The train travels at a maximum speed of 130 km/h and maintains an average speed of 47 km/h.

Train Schedule and Stops

The Yeshwantpur–Rishikesh Express Special (06597) departs from Yeshwantpur, Bengaluru at 7 AM on June 19, 26, and July 3. It arrives in Rishikesh by 10:20 AM the next day. The return journey on Train No. 06598 leaves Rishikesh at 5:55 PM on June 21, 28, and July 5, reaching Yeshwantpur by 7:45 PM the following Monday.

This train stops at several key cities along its route. These include Nagpur, Bhopal, Agra Cantt., Haridwar Junction, and others before reaching its final destination in Rishikesh. This extensive route ensures connectivity across major regions.

Tickets for this service can be booked through the official Indian Railways website or purchased at railway booking offices. This initiative is part of Indian Railways' strategy to enhance inter-regional connectivity throughout the nation.

The introduction of this service is expected to boost tourism and pilgrimage activities in Uttarakhand. Rishikesh is known as the 'Yoga Capital of the World' and is popular for spiritual activities and adventure sports. The train service supports the development of the Rishikesh–Karnaprayag railway line set to complete by December 2026.
