Indian Railways Enters Limca Book Of Records With Historic Attendance

Indian Railways entered the Limca Book of Records for hosting the largest public-service event, attended by over 4 million people, marking the inauguration of railway infrastructure by PM Narendra Modi.

The Ministry of Railways has achieved a milestone, making it to the "Limca Book of Records" for "most people at a public-service event - multiple venues." On February 26, 2024, the Railways Ministry organised an event attended by 40,19,516 people across 2,140 venues.

This event marked the inauguration of road over/under railway bridges and the foundation stones of railway stations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The extensive effort and mobilisation by Indian Railways have been recognised and recorded in the Limca Book of Records.

Ashwini Vaishnaw Assumes Charge

Meanwhile, Ashwini Vaishnaw took charge as Minister of Railways for the second time under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The ceremony took place on Tuesday morning in Delhi. Vaishnaw has also been assigned roles as Minister of Information and Broadcasting, and Minister of Electronics and Information Technology.

The Union Minister was welcomed by the Ministry staff, who lined up to greet him with flowers. Vaishnaw expressed gratitude to PM Modi, highlighting the Prime Minister's 'emotional connection' with the Railways.

Focus on Railways

"People have blessed PM Modi again to serve the country. Railways will have a very big role. In the last 10 years, PM Narendra Modi has done a lot of reforms in railways. Be it the electrification of railways, construction of new tracks, new types of trains, new services, or redevelopment of stations, these are the major achievements of PM Modi in the last 10 years," Vaishnaw said while speaking to reporters.

"The PM has kept railways in focus because railways are the common man's mode of transport and a very strong backbone of our country's economy, so there is a lot of focus on railways. Modi ji has an emotional connection with railways. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi," the Union Minister added.

Future Plans

Vaishnaw will oversee the modernisation and expansion of India's railway network, crucial for national connectivity and economic growth. In his role as Minister of IT, Vaishnaw will regulate and facilitate the media landscape, ensuring press freedom while addressing digital transformation and misinformation challenges.
