India is taking big steps to improve religious tourism by launching new ropeway projects at important spiritual and tourist destinations. On January 25, the central government invited consultants to prepare detailed project reports for 18 ropeway projects across the country. This initiative will make travel easier, safer, and more affordable for millions of visitors every year.

Amarnath Ropeway: A Major Development
One of the most important projects is the ropeway to the Amarnath shrine in Jammu and Kashmir. This 11.6-kilometer ropeway will connect Baltal to the sacred Amarnath Cave, replacing the current difficult trek or costly helicopter rides. The ropeway will allow devotees, including elderly and disabled individuals, to reach the shrine quickly and comfortably while enjoying beautiful mountain views.
