Vande Bharat Train Services

Currently, 164 Vande Bharat train services are running across the country. These trains connect major cities and regions and pass through 274 districts, according to the Ministry of Railways. With their growing network, Vande Bharat trains have become an important part of India's transport system.

How Did Vande Bharat Services Change Travel?

The ministry said that these semi-high-speed trains have changed the way people travel by train. They offer quicker journeys, better safety and a higher level of comfort compared to conventional trains. Designed and built under the Make in India programme, the Vande Bharat trains showcase India's ability to develop advanced railway technology within the country.

Facilities of Vande Bharat Express Trains

Each Vande Bharat train has modern facilities such as automatic sliding doors, rotating seats, bio-vacuum toilets, GPS-based passenger information displays and full CCTV surveillance. These features aim to provide passengers with a smooth, safe and world-class travel experience.

Expansion of Vande Bharat

The expansion of Vande Bharat services has also boosted regional connectivity and tourism. For example, the Delhi-Varanasi route has improved access between the national capital and an important religious city. Similarly, the Srinagar-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra service, launched on June 6, 2025, has made travel easier for pilgrims visiting major religious sites in Jammu and Kashmir.

Increased Ridership

Every month, these trains carry lakhs of passengers, including families, working professionals and pilgrims. The Railways also pointed out that Vande Bharat trains are environment-friendly, as they help lower carbon emissions compared to road and air transport.

With the success of Vande Bharat Express and other modern services like Amrit Bharat Express and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, demand for better railway infrastructure is rising. The upcoming Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are expected to further improve long-distance and overnight travel by offering speed along with greater comfort and modern facilities.
