IMD tracking shows the low over the north Andaman Sea consolidating and moving west-northwest. It is likely to become a depression today and a deep depression on September 22. The system could near south Odisha-north Andhra coasts by Wednesday morning, September 23. Rain and winds will peak around landfall, then spread inland through Thursday.
IMD red alert for Odisha districts
The red alert covers Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri on September 23. Kalahandi and Rayagada join the list on September 24. Surrounding districts carry orange or yellow warnings, including Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur. Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh and Cuttack are also flagged for heavy rain. Odisha has placed 20 districts on administrative alert.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on watch
