IMD Issue Red Alert In Mumbai, BMC Declared School And Colleges Holiday

Wettest July in Mumbai record has been crushed as Mumbai received heavy rainfall and India Meteorological Department (IMD) declared a Red alert in Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban districts from 20:00 Wednesday to Thursday afternoon.

Red Alert Mumbai

The busy streets, colorful culture, & monsoon rains of Mumbai, India's financial hub, are well-known. Heavy rains, on the other hand, frequently cause waterlogging, traffic jams, and disruptions to daily life. The city's annual monsoon season, which lasts from June to September, is marked by occasional bursts of heavy rain.

The city experienced 61.19 mm of rain between 8:00 and 16:00 yesterday, while the eastern & western suburbs received 34.53 mm & 40.68 mm of rain, respectively. While there were periodic heavy showers in the afternoon, the suburbs had heavier rain in the morning.

The Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has a responsibility in such circumstances for administering the city's infrastructure and maintaining the safety of its citizens. A red alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicates that there is a significant chance of very heavy rainfall in a certain area.

Red Alert Mumbai

The BMC has taken precautionary measures in reaction to the IMD issuing a red alert for Mumbai by announcing a holiday on Thursday for all municipal, government-run, & private primary, secondary, and upper-secondary schools as well as all colleges in the city and suburbs. The move attempts to protect student and eliminate any potential threats brought on by severe rain.

Red Alert Mumbai

Mumbai frequently experiences flooding following heavy rains due to its geographic location, crowded population, and poor drainage system. Low-lying parts of the city are especially prone to waterlogging, which interferes with daily living and transportation. All you have to do is stay safe and keep on reading weather reports to fight with this nature decision as the geographical location is vulnerable.
