As the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a weather alert, residents of Bengaluru and 12 other districts in Karnataka are urged to brace for a two-day rain episode beginning Monday. The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, along with southern regions of Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mysuru, Ramanagar, and Shivamogga are expected to experience rainfall during this period.

Unexpected Downpour Hits Coastal Districts:
Over the weekend, Dakshina Kannada witnessed heavy rainfall during late Saturday night and Sunday evening. Places like Ujire, Dharmasthala, Beltangady, and others reported intense downpours, affecting local events such as Kola and Yakshagana. Unfortunately, the sudden rains impacted the Gurukiran night organized in Dharmasthala.
Tragically, the mortal remains of Jochim Crasta were discovered at Mulky bus stand, suspected to be a casualty of a lightning strike. Additionally, lightning caused significant damage to a house in Bairikatte near Vittal, and various incidents of lightning-induced damages were reported across different locations.
Losses and Precautions:

Several households suffered losses due to lightning strikes, including damaged pump sheds, destroyed property, and disruptions in business operations. The fire service personnel managed to prevent further damage in instances like the lightning strike at a bakery's snacks preparation room in Kanyana market.
Temperature Fluctuations Across Regions:
Temperature recordings indicate variations across specific regions in Karnataka. HAL recorded a maximum temperature of 28.4 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 18.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Bengaluru experienced a maximum temperature of 28.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 20.2 degrees Celsius. Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (KIAL) recorded a maximum temperature of 28.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 20.0 degrees Celsius.
