Hyderabad witnessed slightly cooler conditions on May 27, 2026, even as Telangana continues to remain under the grip of an intense heatwave. According to the latest weather updates, the city recorded temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius during the morning hours, with the "feels like" temperature touching nearly 33 degrees due to humidity and warm winds.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has continued its excessive heat warning for several parts of Telangana, while also forecasting a gradual weather shift later this week. Hyderabad is expected to experience partly cloudy skies through the day, with chances of light rain and thunderstorms increasing during evening and night hours.
Weather forecasts indicate a maximum temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad on Wednesday, which is nearly four degrees lower than previous days. The city is also likely to witness gusty winds and isolated pre-monsoon showers as moisture levels begin increasing across the region.
IMD Predicts Rainfall And Thunderstorms Across Telangana
According to the IMD, pre-monsoon activity is expected to intensify from May 28 onward across Telangana. Several districts, including Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, and Nizamabad, may witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph.
The weather office has stated that scattered thundershowers are likely during late evening and night hours over the next few days. Forecast models also indicate cloudy conditions developing gradually across Hyderabad as moisture-bearing winds strengthen over southern India.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity, especially while travelling during evening hours. Sudden gusty winds and lightning may temporarily affect traffic movement in parts of the city.
Heatwave Conditions Continue In Several Telangana Districts
Even as Hyderabad receives some weather relief, several districts in Telangana continue to record extremely high temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius. IMD has issued red and orange alerts for multiple districts due to severe heatwave conditions.
Reports suggest that districts such as Nalgonda, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar, and Peddapalli recorded temperatures between 45 degrees Celsius and 46.5 degrees Celsius over the past 24 hours.
Vemulapalle in Nalgonda reportedly emerged among the hottest locations in the state with temperatures crossing 46 degrees Celsius. Warm night conditions are also expected to persist in isolated areas, making weather conditions uncomfortable despite occasional cloud cover.
Hyderabad To See Gradual Temperature Drop
The IMD has indicated that while there may not be any major change in temperatures immediately, Telangana is likely to witness a gradual fall of around 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next few days as pre-monsoon showers increase.
Current forecasts for Hyderabad suggest temperatures may remain between 36 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius over the coming weekend, with intermittent cloud cover and isolated rain activity continuing.
Weather experts believe the incoming pre-monsoon showers could provide temporary relief from the prolonged heatwave conditions affecting Telangana over the past several weeks. However, humidity levels are expected to rise, especially during non-rainy periods.
As weather patterns begin shifting ahead of the southwest monsoon season, Hyderabad residents may finally experience a break from extreme summer temperatures later this week.
