Hyderabad-Vijayawada 6-Lane Expressway: Central Government Approves ₹7,104 Crore Project

The Central Government has announced a big road project to upgrade the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway into a six-lane expressway. Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, shared that the project will cost Rs 7,104.06 crore. The goal is to turn the current four-lane highway into a wider and safer six-lane road. This new expressway will help improve the connection between the two major cities and make travel safer, especially near areas like Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Nandigama.

Hyderabad-Vijayawada 6-Lane Expressway

The upgraded expressway will stretch 161.518 kilometers from Sangareddy to Choutuppal. The project shows the government's strong commitment to better road safety and modern infrastructure.

A Personal Mission for Safety

Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy played an important role in getting this project approved. He comes from Nalgonda district and lost his son, Prateek Reddy, in a road accident on the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road. This personal loss pushed him to take action. He met with Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and explained how dangerous this highway has become. His efforts helped convince the central government to move forward with the project.

The first step to improving this road was taken in 2010 by the UPA government, which expanded the highway from two lanes to four lanes (NH 65). Now, due to increasing traffic and the need for safer roads, the highway will be expanded again to six lanes.

Improving Roads and Regional Growth

G Kishan Reddy said that good roads help attract business and support local development. Before the opening of the Amberpet flyover, he pointed out that the Union Government has spent over Rs 1.26 lakh crore in the last 10 years to improve road networks. Thanks to this effort, Telangana's national highway length has increased from 2,500 kilometers in 2014 to 5,200 kilometers today. This has helped connect almost every district in the state.

Reddy also announced plans for building new roads that will reduce travel time to Srisailam, an important pilgrimage site. This shows the government's focus not only on road safety but also on better access to religious places.

Amberpet Flyover Inauguration on May 5

Another important step in the government's road plans is the Rs 400-crore Amberpet flyover, which will be inaugurated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on May 5. G Kishan Reddy, the local MP from Secunderabad, is looking after the final arrangements.

The Hyderabad-Vijayawada expressway project is expected to become a major link for safe and smooth travel while boosting economic activity in the region.
