Hyderabad is getting ready to welcome India's largest tunnel-style aquarium, offering a magical underwater experience for visitors of all ages. Spread across 4,000 square metres inside the popular Nehru Zoological Park, this Rs 50 crore project will let people walk beneath a glass dome while being surrounded by sharks, coral fish, and other colourful marine creatures. The experience is expected to feel just like walking under the sea.

An International Team Behind the Design
What makes this aquarium special is the international teamwork behind it. Experts from Singapore and Australia are working together with Indian engineers and designers to create a safe, modern, and eco-friendly space. The aquarium will be fully climate-controlled and take inspiration from other famous marine centres like Science City in Ahmedabad and Marine World in Kerala.
But it's not just about watching fish. This place will be like a "living classroom." There will be themed sections that look like rivers, lakes, coral reefs, and the deep sea. Visitors can enjoy digital guides, augmented reality features, and special tours that teach them about marine life and conservation.
A World of Water Life
The aquarium will host sea creatures from all over the world. Visitors can expect to see Amazonian arowanas, colourful African cichlids, and even rare deep-sea animals. The project is still waiting for final approval from the Central Zoo Authority and is expected to open by 2026. It will be built under a public-private partnership.
Hyderabad: Blending Nature and Innovation
Hyderabad is already known for its mix of tradition and progress. With tech companies like Amazon and Microsoft, growing industries, and modern infrastructure, it's becoming one of the top cities in India. This new aquarium adds to its charm, giving people a fun and educational reason to visit or stay.
