On June 7, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy strongly criticized Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, accusing him of delaying the Union government's approval for the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail.
Hyderabad Metro Expansion Got Delayed
Speaking at a public meeting in Uppal after laying the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹1,511 crore, Revanth Reddy claimed that Kishan Reddy was not doing enough to support Telangana's major infrastructure projects. He alleged that although Kishan Reddy belongs to the BJP, he is indirectly helping the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and its leaders.
Telangana's CM Urges the Union Government for Approval
The Chief Minister urged the Union government to approve key projects, including the Hyderabad Metro expansion, the Regional Ring Road (RRR), and the Musi River rejuvenation project. He also called on the Centre to procure the remaining paddy and maize from farmers.
Revanth Reddy further alleged that Kishan Reddy influenced Devendra Fadnavis to avoid meeting him. He said he wanted to discuss the proposed Tummidihatti Barrage with the Maharashtra Chief Minister, but was denied an appointment.
Highlighting the importance of the Regional Ring Road, he said it could help Telangana compete globally. He noted that he had visited Delhi around 50 times over the past two and a half years to discuss the project with Narendra Modi.
Telangana's CM Accuses the Union Minister of Telangana's Projects
The Chief Minister questioned whether Kishan Reddy was fulfilling his responsibility to secure approvals and funding for Telangana's development projects. He also said that while the state government had already procured 70 lakh metric tonnes of grain, the Union government should purchase the remaining 25 lakh tonnes.
Defending the Musi River development project, Revanth Reddy pointed to successful riverfront projects along the Sabarmati River, Ganga River, and Yamuna River. He said that developing the Musi River along a 55-kilometre stretch from Gandipet to Gowrelli would create jobs, boost tourism, and improve the city's infrastructure.
He also accused opposition parties of creating obstacles to the project and claimed that their actions were preventing efforts to provide housing and educational support to people affected by the development work. Revanth Reddy concluded by saying that after June 15, the Telangana government would announce an action plan for pending projects.
