Holi, the festival of colors, will be celebrated in Hyderabad from the evening of March 13 to the morning of March 15, 2025. To ensure that the celebrations do not disturb public peace or cause inconvenience, the Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police have introduced strict rules. These measures aim to create a safe environment for everyone, especially as the festival coincides with the holy month of Ramzan. Officials have urged people to respect each other's beliefs and celebrate responsibly.
Police Regulations for Holi in Hyderabad
To prevent any trouble, the police have strictly banned throwing colors or colored water on those who do not wish to participate. This rule is meant to protect individuals from unwanted disturbances on public roads and in common spaces. Additionally, authorities have prohibited large gatherings of motorbikes and other vehicles to avoid any disorder or safety concerns.

Holi and Ramzan: A Call for Harmony
This year, Holi celebrations overlap with Friday prayers during Ramzan, leading to discussions about peaceful coexistence. Political and religious leaders have called for mutual respect and unity. Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad and Zia ur Rehman have emphasized the need to honor both traditions without conflict. They have dismissed divisive statements that suggest one community should remain indoors, instead encouraging everyone to follow the constitutional values of the country.
Adjustments for Prayer Timings
In cities like Ayodhya, Sambhal, and Haridwar, clerics have adjusted Friday prayer timings to accommodate Holi celebrations. This change ensures that both events can take place smoothly, preventing any misunderstanding between communities. Maulana Arif Qasmi from Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in Uttarakhand has highlighted that such adjustments promote peace and brotherhood.
Similarly, in Lucknow, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma has praised the cooperative efforts of religious leaders who have willingly shifted prayer times to support Holi celebrations. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has also spoken about the importance of embracing India's diverse culture, questioning any attempts to create unnecessary tension.
With the police enforcing strict rules and community leaders promoting unity, Hyderabad is preparing for a Holi celebration that respects all traditions. The focus is on maintaining harmony and ensuring that everyone, regardless of faith, can observe their festivals peacefully.
