Hyderabad and large parts of Telangana are bracing for an intense heatwave, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an orange alert from April 10 to April 13. With temperatures crossing the 40°C mark, the region is entering one of its harshest early summer phases.

Districts Under Heatwave Alert
The alert covers more than 20 districts across Telangana, including:
Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Wanaparthy, Vikarabad, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Narayanpet, Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, Mahabubnagar, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Jangaon, Jagitial, Hanumakonda, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Adilabad.
These districts are expected to witness daytime temperatures between 41°C and 44°C, significantly increasing heat stress levels.
Hyderabad Weather: Dry Spell Intensifies
In Hyderabad, conditions remain hot, dry, and cloudless, allowing temperatures to rise sharply during the day. Evenings offer only slight relief, with warm conditions lingering after sunset.
The IMD has indicated that dry weather is likely to continue until April 16, prolonging the heatwave impact across the state.
Health Advisory: Who Should Be Careful
The ongoing heatwave poses a higher risk for:
- Elderly individuals
- Infants and young children
- People with chronic health conditions
- Outdoor workers and daily commuters
Prolonged exposure during peak hours can lead to dehydration, exhaustion, and heatstroke.
What This Means Right Now
With no immediate weather relief in sight, the coming days will see intense afternoon heat and rising discomfort levels. Outdoor movement during peak hours (12 PM-4 PM) could become particularly challenging.
The Takeaway
This isn't just another summer day in Hyderabad-it's a widespread heatwave event affecting multiple districts simultaneously. With temperatures soaring and dry conditions persisting, staying cautious and informed becomes essential over the next few days.
