The Imphal West district administration has urged residents near rivers to remain vigilant due to potential breaches of river banks or embankments caused by rising water levels from heavy rainfall. A notification from the Office of District Magistrate Imphal West stated that major rivers in the district have reached warning levels, and catchment areas of Imphal and Nambul rivers are experiencing continuous rainfall. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Manipur for the next five days.

In Mizoram, at least three people, including a four-year-old girl, are feared dead after a rain-triggered landslide partially buried their building on the outskirts of the state capital. The incident occurred early in the morning while the occupants were still sleeping. Some family members managed to escape, but a couple and their daughter are missing and believed to be buried under the debris. A rescue operation is underway.
Landslides and Heavy Rainfall Affecting Mizoram
On Tuesday morning, three buildings in Zuangtui area on the northern outskirts of Aizawl and one in Bawngkawn area were swept away by massive landslides. As a precautionary measure, all occupants had vacated their houses beforehand. Due to inclement weather, the school education department announced the closure of all schools on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall has been affecting several parts of Mizoram since Monday, causing significant damage across the state. On Sunday, the state disaster management and rehabilitation department issued an alert in anticipation of heavy rainfall and storms.
