Heavy rain and thunderstorms hit Bengaluru late Tuesday evening, causing serious problems for many people in the city. Roads flooded quickly, and low-lying areas were left waterlogged. The Bengaluru Traffic Police sent out alerts, warning of slow-moving traffic across many areas due to water buildup.

Weather Forecast and Impact
The worst-hit area was North Bengaluru's Hennur, where waterlogging made it very hard to move around. Central and southern parts of the city like Richmond Town, BTM Layout, Sarjapur, and Electronics City received moderate to heavy rainfall. Even in the eastern part, such as Marathahalli, and western localities like Rajajinagar, the rain was strong.
The Maharani College underpass and Basaveshwara Circle saw serious flooding, making it unsafe for two-wheelers and smaller vehicles. In areas like RR Nagar and Kengeri, people heard loud thunder and saw flashes of lightning, even though the rain wasn't very heavy.
Dr. Pradeep, a weather expert, shared that some parts of Bengaluru received up to 85 mm of rain in a short span of time. This kind of sudden downpour has raised concern among citizens as the city moves closer to the monsoon season.
Traffic Disruptions
Because of the rain, traffic was badly affected. The Bengaluru Traffic Police advised people to avoid flooded roads. "Traffic is moving slowly in both directions from Bommanahalli to Rupena Agrahara and vice versa on Hosur Road," the advisory said. There were also traffic jams reported on the Electronic City flyover, especially between Singasandra Metro Station and the city.
Many residents took to social media to share videos and photos of flooded streets and stranded vehicles. These clips show the real struggle faced by commuters. Some also demanded that the city authorities find long-term solutions to prevent such flooding every time it rains.
Even though Bengaluru is not under a yellow alert, the India Meteorological Department has issued warnings for nearby districts. Light to moderate rainfall is still expected in the city over the next 24 hours.
