Delhi continued to experience very hot weather on Tuesday, with temperatures remaining higher than normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature at Safdarjung, which is considered the city's main weather station, reached 43.5 degrees Celsius. This was 3.1 degrees above the normal temperature for this time of the year.

Heat Alert in Delhi
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Wednesday, as heatwave-like conditions are expected to continue. The maximum temperature may rise to around 45 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to stay close to 28 degrees Celsius.
Heatwave Conditions in Delhi
The weather department said many parts of Delhi had almost met the official heatwave criteria set by the IMD. In the plains, a heatwave is declared when the maximum temperature crosses 45 degrees Celsius. If the temperature goes above 47 degrees Celsius, it is called a severe heatwave. Among Delhi's weather stations, Ayanagar came very close to the heatwave mark with 44.8 degrees Celsius. Ridge recorded 44.6 degrees, Lodhi Road recorded 43.8 degrees, and Palam touched 44 degrees Celsius. All these areas reported temperatures much above normal levels.
The minimum temperature in Delhi settled at 26.8 degrees Celsius, which was also slightly above normal. Many parts of the city experienced warm nights along with extremely hot days.
Rain & Thunderstorm Alert in Delhi from 29 May
However, the IMD has predicted some relief from the heat starting May 29. Thunderstorms and rainfall are expected due to a western disturbance and moisture coming from the Bay of Bengal. These weather changes may help lower temperatures after several days of intense heat.
