According to NFR's Chief Public Relations Officer, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the special trains will operate on three important routes. These include Guwahati-Sairang (in Mizoram)-Guwahati, Dibrugarh-Lucknow-Dibrugarh, and New Delhi-Kamakhya-New Delhi. These services are expected to provide extra travel options for people visiting their families or holiday destinations during Christmas and New Year.

How Will the Special Trains Benefit Passengers?

The Guwahati-Sairang-Guwahati Christmas special train will run for two trips in each direction. From Guwahati, the train will leave on December 22 and December 24, 2025. On the return journey, the Sairang-Guwahati special will depart on December 23 and December 25, 2025.

This special train will have a mix of coaches to suit different passenger needs. It will include two AC 3-Tier coaches, eight Sleeper class coaches, two General Second Class coaches, and two General Second Class luggage-cum-brake vans.

The NFR has informed passengers that complete details about stoppages, routes, and timings are available on the IRCTC website. The information is also being shared through newspapers and the official social media platforms of the Northeast Frontier Railway. Passengers are advised to check all details carefully before planning their journey.
In another development, NFR has upgraded passenger facilities at Guwahati Railway Station to improve comfort. The retiring rooms and dormitory at the station, under the Lumding Division, have been modernised with better facilities. Located on the first floor, the complex now has nine retiring rooms, including seven two-bed rooms and two five-bed rooms, along with a 12-bed dormitory.

All rooms have been converted into fully air-conditioned spaces with improved interiors and more comfortable beds. These upgrades aim to provide a clean, modern, and pleasant stay for passengers during their travel.
