Northern Railway Unveils Special Festival Trains from Ludhiana to Celebrate Diwali and Chhath Puja

As the festive season approaches, many people from Punjab are getting ready to travel back to their hometowns in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to celebrate Diwali and Chhath Puja with their families. To help with this, Northern Railway has announced special festival trains connecting Ludhiana with important cities, including Saharsa,

Katihar, and Patna. These trains aim to handle the increased passenger traffic and provide more travel options for those heading east. The festival special trains will commence operation from October 22, 2025, and will continue until the festivals conclude.

Diwali Special Trains and Schedule

Ludhiana-Saharsa Festival Special: This unreserved train will run three times between Ludhiana and Saharsa. It will depart from Ludhiana on October 22, 23, and 24 at 11:30 AM and reach Saharsa by the next evening. The return trains will leave Saharsa on October 23, 24, and 25 at 11:50 PM and arrive in Ludhiana by 9:20 AM the next day. It will also stop at Dhandari Kalan station for easier access.

Ludhiana-Katihar Festival Special: This reserved train will run once, departing from Ludhiana on October 22 at 11:35 PM and reaching Katihar after 34 hours. The return journey will depart from Katihar on October 24 and reach Ludhiana by October 26.

Additional Ludhiana-Katihar Special: Another reserved train will run on October 23, departing from Ludhiana at 4:50 PM, reaching Katihar in about 34 hours. It will return on October 25 at 6:30 AM, arriving in Ludhiana by the evening of October 26.

Ludhiana-Patna Festival Special: This direct train will leave Ludhiana on October 24 at 8:20 PM and reach Patna the next night. The return train will depart Patna on October 26 at 1:00 AM and arrive in Ludhiana by the morning of October 27.

These extra trains will make travel easier for people heading home to celebrate with their families. Passengers are encouraged to book tickets in advance and check updated schedules on the Indian Railways website or the IRCTC app.
