From 8km to 3.5km: Hyderabad’s New Link Road will Transform Amberpet-Uppal Travel

Hyderabad residents are eagerly waiting for the completion of the New Musi River Link Road, a major infrastructure project aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the city. Expected to be ready by August 2024, this project promises to transform the commuting experience for thousands of people.

Hyderabad s New Link Road

The New Musi River Link Road will connect Amberpet to Uppal and Ramanthapur, offering a much shorter route for commuters. Currently, the distance from Amberpet to Uppal is about eight kilometers, but with this new road, it will be reduced to just 3.5 kilometers. This reduction in travel distance is expected to make daily commutes quicker and more convenient.

The project includes the construction of 14 bridges and one link road across the Musi and Esa rivers. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) will construct six of these bridges and the link road, while the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will build four bridges. Additionally, the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation (HRDCL) is responsible for constructing high-level bridges at key missing link corridors. These include corridor number 99 on the Musi River, connecting Sun City and Chintalmet on the Esa River, and connecting Inner Ring Road and Kismathpur Road.

The new link road will feature a one-kilometer, three-lane stretch constructed by HRDCL and a two-kilometer, two-lane existing road that will be widened by GHMC's projects wing. According to a GHMC official, only 0.5 kilometers of road widening is left, and utility shifting is currently underway. This development is a collaborative effort between HRDCL and GHMC, highlighting the city's commitment to improving its transportation network.

Residents living near the Moosarambagh RTO office, like K. Arvind Rao, are particularly excited about the new road. Rao expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "At present, we use the main road to reach Uppal from Amberpet, which is often crowded and plagued by traffic snarls at multiple junctions. The new road will make the commute hassle-free and save us valuable time."

The road, starting near Ali Café in Amberpet, is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in several key areas. By providing a new route for commuters traveling from the Moosarambagh-Malakpet side towards Uppal, Ramanthapur, and surrounding areas, the project will significantly improve the daily commuting experience. This initiative is not just about reducing travel time; it is about creating a more efficient and convenient transportation network for the city's residents.

In addition to easing traffic congestion, the new Musi River Link Road will enhance connectivity between major neighborhoods in Hyderabad. The improved road network will promote smoother and faster travel, encouraging more people to use this route and reducing the burden on existing roads.

The project is part of a broader effort to develop the city's infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its residents. With the construction of 14 bridges and the new link road, the city's transportation system will be better equipped to handle the growing demands of its population.

As the countdown begins for the road's completion, residents eagerly anticipate the convenience and time-saving benefits this new Musi River Link Road will bring to their daily commutes. The project's completion will mark a significant milestone in Hyderabad's journey towards becoming a city with a world-class transportation network.

The New Musi River Link Road is set to revolutionize commuting in Hyderabad. By connecting Amberpet to Uppal and Ramanthapur, and reducing the travel distance to just 3.5 kilometers, this project will offer a faster, safer, and more convenient travel option for residents. The collaborative efforts of HRDCL, GHMC, and HMDA demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing the city's infrastructure and improving the overall quality of life for its people. As the project nears completion, the excitement among residents continues to build, heralding a new era of improved connectivity and transportation efficiency in Hyderabad.
