Southern Railway Unveils Special Trains for Diwali 2025: Key Routes and Schedules Revealed

To manage the increase in passenger traffic ahead of Diwali 2025, Southern Railway has introduced several special trains to make travel easier for those heading home for the festival. These trains will operate on specific dates, connecting major locations like Chennai, Tambaram, and Chengalpattu to popular destinations including Coimbatore (Podanur),

Kanyakumari, and Tirunelveli.

Train Routes and Schedule

1. Chennai Central - Podanur (Coimbatore) Special

• Train 06049 (Chennai to Podanur): Leaves at 11:55 PM on October 17 & 18, and arrives at 9:30 AM the next day.

• Train 06050 (Podanur to Chennai): Leaves at 2:00 PM on October 18, and arrives at 11:10 PM the same day.

• Stops include Perambur, Tiruvallur, Arakkonam, Salem, and Erode.

2. Tambaram - Kanyakumari Special

• Train 06133 (Tambaram to Kanyakumari): Leaves at 11:30 PM on October 16 & 18, arriving at 6:25 AM the next day.

• Train 06134 (Kanyakumari to Chengalpattu): Departs at 3:05 PM on October 17, and arrives at 4:30 AM the following day.

• This service provides a direct overnight connection between Chennai and Kanyakumari.

3. Chengalpattu - Tirunelveli Special

• Train 06156 (Chengalpattu to Tirunelveli): Leaves at 3:15 PM on October 21 & 22, running overnight.

• Key stops include Villupuram, Trichy, Madurai, and Virudhunagar.
