Delhi Metro Expands Magenta Line to 89 Kilometres with 65 Stations, From Noida Botanical Garden to Inderlok

The Magenta Line (Line-8) of the Delhi Metro is set to become the longest and one of the most important corridors in the entire network. With new extensions approved under Phase-IV and Phase-V (A), this line will improve travel across Delhi and the NCR by offering better connections and easier movement between different parts of the city.

Magenta Line Extension

Under the recently approved Phase-V (A), the Magenta Line will be extended from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha through the Central Vista area. Along with this, the Indraprastha-Inderlok corridor of Phase-IV will also be developed as part of the Magenta Line. After these expansions, the line will start from Noida Botanical Garden to Inderlok with a total length of about 89 kilometres, making it the longest corridor in the Delhi Metro system.

Driverless Metro Corridor

Once fully completed, the entire Magenta Line will operate as a driverless Metro corridor. According to DMRC officials, it will have a total of 65 stations, out of which 40 will be underground. This will also make it the corridor with the highest number of underground stations.
Interchange Stations on Magenta Line
The number of interchange stations on the Magenta Line will rise sharply. At present, there are four interchange stations: Kalkaji Mandir, Botanical Garden, Janakpuri West, and Hauz Khas. After the new phases are completed, 17 more interchange stations will be added, taking the total to 21. Important stations, including Central Secretariat, Azadpur, New Delhi, and Inderlok, will become triple interchange stations, connecting three different Metro lines at one location.
Why are these developments helpful?
These developments are expected to reduce travel time, ease congestion on busy routes, and provide smooth, end-to-end connectivity across the city. The Magenta Line is also known for its engineering achievements, as it includes the highest elevated station at Haiderpur Badli Mor and the deepest underground station at Hauz Khas, showcasing the advanced technology used in the project.
