Bengaluru's Namma Metro is growing quickly, and the Pink Line is one of its major upcoming corridors. The line is planned to open in two phases by December 2026, improving city-wide connectivity and making travel easier for commuters. However, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has again postponed the
opening of the elevated section of the Pink Line. Originally expected to start by the end of 2025, the date was first postponed to March 2026 and is now extended to May 2026 because of construction delays and logistical challenges.
Pink Line Stations on Elevated Stretch
The 7.5 km elevated stretch includes six stations: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM Bangalore, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva, and Tavarekere (Swagat Cross Road). Once this section opens, the Jayadeva Interchange station will become fully functional, allowing passengers to switch easily between the Pink and Yellow Lines.
Underground Pink Line Stretch
The Yellow Line R.V. Road to Bommasandra, partly opened in August 2025, is operational. Meanwhile, the 13 km underground stretch of the Pink Line, running from Dairy Circle to Nagawara, is expected to open by December 2026, along with the Blue Line between Silk Board and K.R. Puram.
Pink Line Train Sets
According to officials, the Pink Line will be operational with three to four train sets. BMRCL has signed a deal with BEML to supply 60 trains for the Pink and Blue Lines under Phase 2A and 2 B. The prototype train from BEML is expected by the end of October 2025, after which testing will begin at the Kothanur depot and on the main track. Testing and safety approvals will take months. Initially, four trains will operate on the elevated stretch, with more added later based on commuter demand.
