The Pragati Maidan tunnel in Delhi, which was closed due to waterlogging after heavy rainfall last week, has now reopened for public use. The tunnel had been shut since June 28, and traffic movement resumed on Monday after it was cleaned. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported the Safdarjung observatory recorded 228.1 mm of rainfall on June 28, more than three times the June average and the highest for the month since 1936. The public works department received over 200 calls from waterlogged areas and drained water from the Minto bridge underpass and other parts of the city.

Record-breaking rainfall in Delhi
According to IMD data, the city's primary weather station at Safdarjung recorded 228.1 mm of rainfall on June 28, followed by 192.8 mm at Lodhi Road, 150.4 mm at Ridge, 106.6 mm at Palam, and 66.3 mm at Ayanagar. This amount of rainfall was more than three times the average for June (74.1 mm) and marked the highest level for the month since records began in 1936.
Efforts to clear waterlogged areas
Following the heavy rain, the public works department received over 200 calls from residents in waterlogged areas across Delhi. After several hours of work, water was successfully drained from various locations, including the Minto bridge underpass and numerous other parts of the city.
