Delhi Weather Update: A layer of fog covered the national capital on Wednesday as the city continued to witness a cold wave following a dip in temperature. In the visuals shared by ANI, people were seen sitting by the bonfire in a bid to keep themselves warm amid the cold wave conditions as the temperature dipped further in the city.

North India under the Grip of a Severe Cold Wave
As North India continues to reel under the cold wave conditions in North India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday that moderate to dense fog cover was observed over parts of the region, including Punjab, Haryana, and central parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Visibility Affected as Fog Intensifies Across the Region
According to the weather office, visibility in the areas was reduced due to the fog cover late Tuesday evening. Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly recorded the lowest visibility at 25. 'Very dense' fog is when visibility is between 0 and 50 meters, 51 and 200 meters is 'dense', 201 and 500 meters 'moderate', and 501 and 1,000 meters 'shallow.' Taking to X, the IMD said that at 11:30 pm on Tuesday, very dense fog enveloped isolated pockets of West Uttar Pradesh, and dense fog was over isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan.

The cold wave and the accompanying fog have brought daily life to a slower pace, affecting visibility and necessitating the use of bonfires for warmth. The citizens of the capital and neighboring regions are adapting to the reduced visibility and the chilly weather, hoping for the fog to lift and the sun to bring some respite from the cold. With the India Meteorological Department keeping a close watch, residents are advised to stay updated on the weather conditions and take necessary precautions against the severe cold.
