Delhi experienced cooler-than-usual weather on Sunday due to recent rain and thunderstorm activity. The city's maximum temperature was 35.8 degrees Celsius, 4.2 degrees below the normal for this time of year. According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi received 0.9 mm of rainfall during the 24

hours ending at 8:30 am on Sunday. However, no rainfall was recorded between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm on the same day.
What has caused Delhi's Pleasant Weather?
Weather experts said that the pleasant weather was caused by an active western disturbance affecting Rajasthan and parts of central Pakistan. This weather system led to rain and thunderstorms across Delhi-NCR, helping bring down temperatures and providing relief from the summer heat.
The western disturbance has been responsible for increased cloud cover, rainfall, and strong winds in the region over the past few days. As a result, temperatures have remained below normal, and weather conditions have been more comfortable than usual for residents.
Delhi Weather Alert, No Heatwave to Continue
However, experts have indicated that this cooler spell is likely to be temporary. As the western disturbance weakens and moves away from the region, rainfall activity is expected to reduce. Consequently, temperatures in Delhi are likely to increase over the next few days.
Despite the expected rise in temperatures, weather experts have offered some reassuring news. Mahesh Palawat of Skymet Weather stated that there is currently no possibility of heatwave conditions in Delhi during the first week of June, as temperatures may climb slightly, but they are not expected to reach dangerously high levels.
