Delhi Traffic Police Issues Advisory for Navratri Festivities, Heavy Traffic Expected

With Navratri celebrations taking place from October 3 to October 13, the Delhi Traffic Police has released an advisory to manage the large number of devotees expected at major temples. Popular temples like Jhandewalan Mandir, Shri Adhya Katyayani Shaktipith Mandir in Chattarpur, and Kalkaji Mandir are likely to see heavy crowds, which may cause traffic congestion on nearby roads.

Delhi Traffic Advisory for Navratri

Congested Areas and Roads

To ensure smooth traffic during Navratri, the Delhi Traffic Police has identified several roads that might experience heavy congestion. Around Jhandewalan Mandir, Rani Jhansi Road, Faiz Road, New Rohtak Road, and DBG Road are likely to see high traffic. Devotees heading to Chattarpur Mandir should expect slow-moving traffic on Chattarpur Mandir Road, MG Road, Anuvart Marg, 100 Foota Road, and 60 Foota Road. Similarly, those visiting Kalkaji Mandir may face traffic on the Outer Ring Road between Nehru Place and Modi Mill.

Advice for Commuters During Navratri

Commuters are encouraged to plan their trips in advance, especially when traveling to important destinations like IGI Airport, New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station, Nizamuddin Railway Station, and ISBT. This will help them avoid delays due to the festive crowds. The Delhi Traffic Police advises the public to use public transport wherever possible to reduce traffic jams and park vehicles only in designated parking areas.

The police also remind people to stay alert and report any suspicious activity or objects to the nearest police officer or PCR van.

Traffic Updates and Road Closures

In addition to the Navratri traffic, ongoing road repairs on National Highway 48 (NH-48) are causing further disruptions. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has closed a section of the service road from the NSG Office to the Mahipalpur Petrol Pump for the next two months due to the risk of collapse. This closure will affect traffic from Gurugram to Mahipalpur.

To help commuters stay updated on traffic conditions, the Delhi Traffic Police regularly shares real-time information on their social media platforms. Following these updates will help residents and visitors navigate the city more efficiently during Navratri and beyond.

With large crowds expected at temples and ongoing roadwork on NH-48, the Delhi Traffic Police advisory is essential for ensuring smooth and safe travel during Navratri. By following the guidelines and staying informed, commuters can help maintain a smooth flow of traffic during this busy festive season.
