As the 76th Republic Day nears, Delhi is bustling with preparations for the grand celebrations. From parade rehearsals on Kartavyapath to enhanced security measures, the city is undergoing significant adjustments. Among these changes, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport will temporarily suspend flights between 10:20 am and 12:45 pm from January 19 to January 26.

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) announced this through a 'Notice to Airmen' (NOTAM), explaining that the airspace restriction is part of security measures for Republic Day. Travelers are advised to contact their airlines for updated flight schedules to avoid inconvenience.
Traffic Restrictions Around Kartavyapath
While the airspace undergoes changes, ground movement is also being carefully managed. The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory outlining road restrictions around Kartavyapath and nearby areas. From January 17 to 21, key crossings such as Rafi Marg, Janpath, Mansingh Road, and C-Hexagon will face limitations due to parade rehearsals.
Residents and commuters are urged to plan their routes in advance to avoid delays. The advisory emphasizes adhering to traffic rules to ensure smooth rehearsals.
Ban on Drones and Aerial Platforms
In addition to air and traffic adjustments, the Delhi Police have imposed a ban on drones and other aerial platforms from January 18 to February 1. This directive, issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, is aimed at preventing potential threats from anti-social elements using aerial devices.
The ban covers various equipment, including UAVs, UASs, quadcopters, and para-jumping activities. Violators will face legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Coordinated Efforts for a Secure Celebration
These measures highlight the detailed planning and coordination needed to ensure the Republic Day celebrations are both grand and secure. While the temporary restrictions may inconvenience some, they are essential for the safe execution of this significant event.
The authorities have worked diligently to create a seamless experience for participants and attendees. As India celebrates its Republic Day, these measures reflect the nation's pride, unity, and commitment to safety.
Whether you are traveling, commuting, or attending the parade, staying informed and cooperating with the authorities will ensure a smooth and memorable celebration of this historic day.
