People living in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are likely to get some relief from the summer heat over the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in the region until June 4.

Delhi Rain Alert
For Tuesday, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi. According to the forecast, Delhi is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall during the night. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph may also occur. Residents have been advised to stay updated with weather alerts and take precautions during stormy conditions.
No weather warning has been issued for Wednesday and Thursday. However, the weather is expected to remain pleasant compared to the intense heat experienced in recent weeks. Daytime temperatures are likely to stay below 40 degrees Celsius at least until June 6.
Delhi's Pleasant Weather
Delhi also recorded its coolest beginning of June in the last three years on Monday. The Safdarjung weather station, which is considered the official observatory for the city, recorded a maximum temperature of 36.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 24.9 degrees Celsius. The last time Delhi experienced a cooler June 1 was in 2023, when the maximum temperature was 32.7 degrees Celsius, and the minimum was 20.6 degrees Celsius. Monday's maximum temperature was about 3.7 degrees below the normal seasonal average.
According to the IMD, Delhi's maximum temperature on Tuesday is expected to remain between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius. From Wednesday to Saturday, temperatures may range between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius. Night-time temperatures are also likely to rise gradually and could reach around 29 degrees Celsius by the middle of the week.
