Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) may soon get relief from the intense heat as the southwest monsoon is expected to reach the region by July 4, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Delhi Rain Alert on 4 July
For now, the weather is expected to remain hot and humid. Daytime temperatures are likely to stay between 40°C and 42°C, while nights will remain warm. However, increasing cloud cover and air moisture indicate that monsoon conditions are approaching. As a result, residents may experience light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, especially during the evening and night hours. Wind speeds could reach 50 to 70 kmph in some places.
Advisory for Residents
The IMD has advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms. Residents should avoid standing under trees, stay away from electric poles, and secure loose outdoor items that strong winds could blow away. Traffic disruptions, waterlogging, and reduced visibility are also possible during heavy showers.
How will this Rainfall Benefit Residents?
The expected rainfall will bring much-needed relief from the scorching heat that has affected Delhi-NCR in recent weeks. Temperatures are likely to fall by a few degrees once the monsoon becomes active, making the weather more comfortable. Humidity, however, may remain high until steady rainfall sets in.
The weather forecast for Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad is similar to Delhi's, with chances of thunderstorms, rain, and gusty winds increasing over the coming days. If the monsoon arrives as expected by July 4, residents across the NCR can expect cooler temperatures and regular rainfall, marking the end of the prolonged summer heat.
