Good news! Delhi Metro passengers no longer need to wait in long lines to buy tickets. Thanks to a new partnership between the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), more than 10 popular mobile apps can now be used to book metro tickets. This new service aims to make daily travel easier for over 6.5 million metro users in the city.

Book Metro Tickets on Popular Apps
Now, there's no need to download a separate app just for metro tickets. Apps like Google Maps, Redbus, and Rapido can now be used to book Delhi Metro tickets. This saves time and makes your journey smoother, whether you're a local or a visitor.
How the New System Works
SequelString AI (SAI) has created a special tech system that lets different mobile apps connect with Delhi Metro's ticketing service. This means that you can now book metro tickets along with other travel services, all from one app.
For example, if someone is traveling from Jaipur to Delhi, they can book their bus and metro tickets together on the Redbus app. Local users in Delhi can use apps like Rapido to book a bike ride to the metro station, buy a metro ticket, and even book another ride to their final destination-all in one place.
Better Travel with Digital Support
This new service makes public transport more modern and convenient. Vikas Kumar, the Managing Director of DMRC, said, "This partnership with ONDC is part of our effort to simplify metro travel and bring it into the digital spaces people already use every day." His statement shows how DMRC wants to use technology to improve metro travel for everyone.
From Testing to Full Launch
The idea was first tested in November 2024, and now the full service is available on many apps. This change is not only about buying tickets faster but also about using apps that people already know and trust.
How It Helps Travelers
This update helps both people traveling from outside Delhi and those moving within the city. For instance, someone arriving from Jaipur can use the Redbus app to book a metro ticket from ISBT Kashmere Gate to any place in Delhi. Local commuters can plan their whole journey using Rapido-from home to the metro station, metro travel, and then to their final stop.
Delhi Metro's partnership with ONDC and top mobile apps is a big step forward in public transport. It saves time, removes the need for standing in lines, and fits well with people's digital habits. This new feature will make metro travel in Delhi smoother and smarter for everyone.
