The Delhi government has approved new names for several Metro stations and public places across the city, as announced in a meeting of the State Names Authority led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday.

List of Delhi Metro Stations with Changed Names
• One of the major changes is the renaming of Rohini West Metro Station. It will now be called "Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital Metro Station" because it is located close to the hospital. Officials said the new name will help commuters easily identify the nearby landmark.
• Dwarka Metro Station will also get a new name. It will now be called "Dwarka-Kakrola Metro Station".
• Similarly, Rohini East Metro Station will be renamed "Rohini Metro Station".
• The government has also approved changing the name of Britannia Chowk in Shakurpur to "Ashwini Chopra (Minna) Chowk". Ashwini Chopra was a journalist and former Member of Parliament from Karnal.
• Another important decision is the naming of the under-construction sports complex in Begampur, Rohini. It will now be called "Atal Khel Parisar" in memory of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The government has also approved a proposal to install his statue at the sports complex.
• An under-construction hospital in Jwalapuri will be named "Baba Ramdevji Maharaj Hospital".
Reason behind the Renaming
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the renaming exercise is aimed at honouring people and places connected to Delhi's social, cultural, and historical background. She added that Delhi is not only the administrative capital of India but also represents the country's cultural and historical identity.
Officials also stated that the renaming exercise is meant to connect public places with local identity, important landmarks, and well-known personalities. According to the government, some Metro station names were changed to make them easier for passengers to recognise and connect with nearby areas or institutions.
