To make it easier for people to attend the Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has changed its schedule for January 26. The adjustments are aimed at ensuring smooth travel for commuters attending the event.
Revised Metro Timings
On Republic Day, metro trains will begin running from all terminal stations at 3:00 AM, earlier than the usual start time. From 3:00 AM to 6:00 AM, trains will operate every 30 minutes. After 6:00 AM, the regular metro schedule will resume for the rest of the day. Passengers are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly to avoid any last-minute rush.
Typically, Delhi Metro services start after 5:00 AM and continue until 11:30 PM. The Airport Express Line operates slightly differently, from 4:40 AM to 11:40 PM. This early start on Republic Day is a special arrangement to accommodate public participation in the celebrations.
Security Measures Intensified
As part of Republic Day preparations, security checks have been increased across all metro stations. Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications at DMRC, announced that these enhanced security measures will remain in place until January 27, 2025.
"In view of the enhanced security arrangements ahead of Republic Day on 26th January, the security checks for passengers have been further intensified by CISF across the Metro stations till 27th January 2025," said Dayal. He also advised passengers to cooperate with security personnel and allow extra time for their commute due to longer queues during peak hours.
