Delhi Metro has Issued a Tender for the Design of Underground Stations in the Magenta Line

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a tender for the design and planning of four new underground metro stations between Shivaji Stadium and Kartavya Bhawan, under the proposed Central Vista corridor and the extension of the Magenta Line under Phase-VA of the Delhi Metro project.

Tender Process to Cover

According to officials, the tender covers design verification, detailed engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems for the four stations. The proposed stations are New Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugeen Bharat near Rakabganj Gurudwara, a station at Central Secretariat, and a new station at Kartavya Bhawan.

Delhi Metro's Tender Work

Metro officials stated that this tender is an important step before tunnelling work begins, as it will help determine the exact location and depth of the stations.
Earlier, in April, DMRC had floated a ₹3.2 crore tender to appoint a design consultant for the construction of the Central Vista depot near Majlis Park. The depot will support the Phase-VA metro expansion, especially the Central Vista corridor.

Delhi Metro's Magenta Line

As part of the project, the Magenta Line will be extended from the RK Ashram Marg-Indraprastha section to Kartavya Bhawan. This extension will provide direct metro access to an area that houses several important government offices.

How will Delhi's Magenta Line Extension Benefit Passengers?

The government estimates that around 60,000 office workers and nearly two lakh commuters will benefit from this corridor every day.

Once the extension is completed, the Magenta Line will become the longest line in the Delhi Metro network, stretching 88.4 km from Botanical Garden to Inderlok. It will operate as a fully driverless corridor and include 21 interchange stations, improving connectivity across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

At present, the Pink Line is the longest metro line, covering more than 71.5 km with 46 stations. It is also the only Delhi Metro line with a circular route.

The other two corridors approved under Phase-VA are the Tughlakabad-Kalindi Kunj extension and the Aerocity-Terminal 1 corridor, both of which will be part of the upcoming Golden Line.
