The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is planning to expand its driverless metro network by buying 90 new metro coaches, which will be used to form 15 trains, each with six coaches, for the Inderlok-Indraprastha corridor under Phase IV of the project. The corporation has already invited bids from companies for

designing, manufacturing, supplying, testing, and commissioning these trains for the Magenta Line extension. According to the tender, the entire project is expected to be completed in about 204 weeks.
Project Funding
This project is partly funded through a loan agreement signed in March 2025 between the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Government of India. However, the maintenance costs will be handled separately by DMRC. The selected company will also be responsible for maintaining the 90 coaches for 35 years. This includes maintaining depot machinery, tools, and testing equipment, and providing training to DMRC staff.
Inderlok-Indraprastha Corridor
The Inderlok-Indraprastha corridor is planned as an extension of the Delhi Metro Magenta Line. In the future, the line may be extended further from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha through Central Vista under Phase V. Currently, the Magenta Line runs between Botanical Garden and Janakpuri West. After the extension reaches Inderlok, the total length of the Magenta Line will become around 89 km, making it the longest corridor in the Delhi Metro network. The entire route will operate without drivers once completed.
The corridor will also improve connectivity by increasing interchange stations from four to 21. New interchange points like Central Secretariat, Azadpur, New Delhi, and Inderlok will serve as triple interchanges.
