The city experienced very hot weather on Friday, even though the temperature dropped slightly compared to the previous day. The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung, Delhi's main weather station, was 39.8 degrees Celsius, which is considered normal for this time of the year. On Thursday, the temperature reached 40.6 degrees
Celsius. Among different parts of the city, the Ridge area was the hottest at 41.4 degrees Celsius. Ayanagar recorded 41 degrees Celsius, while Palam saw a maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius.
Delhi Heat Alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that temperatures are likely to rise further in the coming days. The maximum temperature may remain between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius on Saturday, increase to 42-43 degrees Celsius on Sunday, and reach 42-44 degrees Celsius by May 18. Even with the intense heat, the IMD issued a yellow alert for Delhi, predicting light rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds by late evening. However, the city did not experience any major weather changes or rainfall during the day.
Delhi Weather Change
The weather department stated that a western disturbance, along with a cyclonic circulation over Jammu and nearby north Pakistan, is still active. Because of this system, there may not be much change in daytime temperatures over the next two days. The IMD added that temperatures could rise by 1-2 degrees Celsius over the following 24 hours before falling slightly again. Night temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius during the next 24 hours and then rise again by a similar margin later.
