Delhi is experiencing a sharp rise in temperatures as summer heat intensifies across the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for Delhi-NCR starting April 21, and the severe conditions are expected to continue until April 24. Clear skies and strong sunlight are making the days

very hot and uncomfortable, with temperatures rising above normal levels.
Delhi Heat Alert
Most parts of Delhi, including North, South, East, West, Central Delhi, and New Delhi, along with nearby NCR cities like Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad, are likely to face heatwave conditions. The weather is expected to remain mostly clear with bright sunshine throughout the day. Daytime temperatures may range from 41°C to 43°C, while night temperatures may range from 21°C to 23°C. Recently, Safdarjung recorded 39.5°C, which is above normal, and the Ridge area saw temperatures reach 41.3°C.
Yellow Alert & Advisory for Residents
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for several areas in Delhi-NCR, warning people to be careful during this period. Weather experts have said temperatures may rise further by 1-2°C in the coming days, making the heatwave even stronger. Health experts have also warned about the risks of extreme heat. People, especially children, elderly individuals, and those with existing health problems, may face issues like dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other heat-related illnesses. Residents are advised to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of water, and wear light and comfortable clothes.
Heatwave conditions are expected to continue in many parts of Delhi, including North-West, South-West, East, and Shahdara. Some slight relief may come after April 25, when partly cloudy skies could lower temperatures a little. However, until then, people should remain cautious and take proper precautions to stay safe in extreme heat conditions.
