Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several important highway projects on Friday, giving a major boost to road connectivity across North India. These projects are expected to reduce travel time, improve transport, and support tourism, trade, and economic growth in the region.

List of Important Highway Projects Inaugurated Today
The biggest project is the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway. PM Modi inaugurated Packages 1 to 5 of the expressway, which will make travel much faster. Once completed, the travel time between Delhi and Katra will reduce from about 14 hours to nearly 6 hours. The journey from Delhi to Amritsar will also become shorter, taking around 4 hours instead of the current 8 hours.
The Prime Minister will dedicate a 157.92-km four-lane, access-controlled section of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, built at an estimated cost of around ₹9,680 crore. This section is part of the larger 667-km expressway that will connect Delhi with Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir. The project is expected to improve travel for tourists, pilgrims, and businesses.
PM Modi also inaugurated the 33.81-km four-lane Ambala-Kala Amb Highway on National Highways 7 and 344. The highway will improve connectivity between Ambala in Haryana and the Kala Amb industrial area in Himachal Pradesh. It is expected to make travel easier, support tourism to nearby hill stations, and reduce transportation costs for industries.
Another key project is the 40.60-km Jind-Gohana Greenfield Highway on NH-352A. The new highway will reduce travel time between Jind and Gohana from nearly two hours to about 40 minutes. It will benefit daily commuters, farmers, and freight transport while improving connectivity to Rohtak, Panipat, and Delhi-NCR.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the six-lane IT City-Kurali Greenfield Highway in Mohali. The new road will improve connectivity between Mohali, Kharar, and Kurali. It will also strengthen road links between Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, making travel smoother and boosting regional development.
