Coimbatore residents should get ready for a planned power cut on Friday, December 12. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) will turn off the electricity in several parts of the city to carry out its routine monthly maintenance work. This is a standard practice followed every month in different districts

to keep the power system safe and running smoothly. TNEB has already released the list of areas that will be affected, so people can prepare in advance.
Power Shutdown Timings
The power supply will be stopped from 9 am to 4 pm. During this seven-hour window, TNEB workers will inspect lines, repair faults, replace damaged or old parts, and trim tree branches that may touch power lines. These steps help reduce sudden breakdowns and improve the reliability of the electricity network.
Areas Affected on December 12
Two-Headed Region: Irukur, Ondipudur, Otterpalayam, SIHS Colony, parts of Pallapalayam, Kannampalayam zone, Chinniyampalayam, Venkitapuram, Thottipalayam, Goldwins.
Somaiyampalayam Region: Yamuna Nagar, parts of Kalapalayam, GCT Nagar, Kanuvai, KNG Puthur, Thadakam Road, Somaiyampalayam, Agarwal Road, Cheran Industrial Area, Luna Nagar, Vidya Colony, Saj Garden, Teachers Colony.
Somanur Region: Krishnapuram, Chemmandampalayam, and parts of Kaniyur and Somanur.
Precautions for Residents
• Authorities have shared a few tips to help manage the outage:
• Charge mobile phones, laptops, and power banks beforehand.
• Store enough water since pumps won't work.
• Turn off all electrical devices to prevent damage when power returns.
• Keep candles, torches, or emergency lights ready.
• Arrange alternatives for medical devices or medicines that need cooling.
• Avoid using lifts during the outage.
• Finish important chores early and cooperate until power is restored.
Residents are encouraged to stay prepared and follow the guidelines as TNEB carries out its maintenance work.
