Tripura's Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha says the state is entering a new phase of infrastructure growth, and one of the big highlights will be the introduction of a Vande Bharat train service soon. He shared this during a recent government event, emphasising that work worth around ₹1,300 crore is

already underway on several major projects that will improve transportation, connectivity, and overall development in the state.
Vande Bharat Train in Tripura
The Vande Bharat train, a semi-high-speed service with modern features, is expected to start after the completion of key railway infrastructure work in Tripura. This includes electrifying railway lines and ensuring the tracks and systems are ready for faster trains. Electrification and rail upgrades in the Northeast have been a major focus for Indian Railways, and they have been pushing to launch more modern passenger services once this work is complete.
Total Investment
The CM also mentioned that the government's ₹1,300 crore investment isn't just for the train; it covers other development works too, such as building and upgrading roads, improving facilities, and strengthening economic infrastructure across the state. These efforts aim to boost connectivity within Tripura and with other regions, making travel and transport easier and faster for people and businesses.
Big Railway Projects in Tripura
In recent years, Tripura has already seen big railway projects, including efforts to link the state more closely with the rest of India and to support future high-speed services. When the Vande Bharat train begins service, it should reduce travel time and bring better comfort and faster rail connections for passengers travelling to and from Tripura.
Moreover, these plans show that the state government is working to speed up infrastructure development and to modernise Tripura's transport network as part of broader economic growth strategies.
