Under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government has taken an important step to expand the city's Metro network. The government has released its share of funds for the remaining three corridors under Phase IV of the Delhi Metro Rail Transit System. This decision aims to

improve Metro connectivity across the capital and strengthen Delhi's public transport system.
Three Phase IV Metro Corridors
According to an official statement, the Chief Minister said these new Metro lines will make travel easier for people in many parts of the city. The projects are expected to be completed within four years. Better Metro services will also help reduce traffic congestion and control air pollution by encouraging people to use public transport instead of private vehicles. The three Phase IV corridors will have a total length of 47.225 kilometres and will cost around Rs 14,630.80 crore. Out of this, the Delhi Government will contribute Rs 3,386.18 crore.
First & Second Corridors
The first corridor will run from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block. It will be 8.385 kilometres long and will have eight elevated stations. The second corridor will connect Inderlok and Indraprastha. This 12.377-kilometre-long line will have ten stations, including one elevated and nine underground stations. These two corridors are part of a combined project costing Rs 8,399.81 crore, with the Delhi Government's share being Rs 1,987.86 crore.
Third Corridor
The third and longest corridor will connect Rithala to Kundli, extending Metro services to Haryana. This line will be 26.463 kilometres long with 21 stations. The total cost is estimated at Rs 6,230.99 crore, with Rs 1,398.32 crore to be contributed by the Delhi Government.
These corridors will pass through several residential, commercial, and industrial areas, providing better travel options for thousands of daily commuters. Tendering work is already underway, and construction has started on some sections. Once completed, the new Metro lines will improve connectivity across Delhi and the NCR, reduce road traffic, save travel time, and support cleaner and more sustainable urban transport.
