3.05 am on June 6. During this period, railway workers will carry out important maintenance and engineering activities on the section. As a result, some suburban train services will either be cancelled or partially cancelled.

List of Chennai Trains to be Affected

• Among the affected services are two late-night Chennai Beach-Tambaram EMU local trains. The train scheduled to leave Chennai Beach at 11.40 pm on June 5 and another service departing at 11.59 pm on June 5 have both been completely cancelled. Passengers planning to travel on these trains are advised to make alternative travel arrangements.

• In addition to the cancellations, two other late-night suburban services will be partially cancelled. These trains normally operate from Guduvancheri and Chengalpet to Chennai Beach. However, due to the maintenance work and temporary traffic block, these services will not run on their full routes. Railway authorities have not provided complete route details in the announcement, but have confirmed that the trains will operate only on part of their scheduled journey.

Why are the Changes Essential?

Southern Railway stated that the temporary disruptions are necessary to carry out essential infrastructure and maintenance work, which will help improve the safety and reliability of train operations in the future. Such engineering blocks are regularly undertaken to maintain tracks, electrical systems, and other railway infrastructure.

Advisory for Passengers

Passengers travelling during the late-night hours of June 5 and the early hours of June 6 are advised to check updated train schedules before starting their journey. Railway officials have requested commuters to cooperate with the temporary changes and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience caused by the cancellations and partial cancellations.
