The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has announced a scheduled power cut in parts of Chennai and Coimbatore on Wednesday, August 5, to carry out routine maintenance. The power supply will be switched off from 9 am in the affected areas and will be restored after the maintenance work is completed.
The Electricity Board has requested residents to make the necessary arrangements in advance and cooperate with officials during the maintenance work. The duration of the power cut may vary depending on how quickly the work is completed.
Chennai Power Cut on 5 August
In Chennai, the power outage will affect several areas in Perambur. These include Tirumala Nagar Main Road, Tirumala Nagar 1st Street, Tirumala Nagar 2nd Street, Tirumala Nagar 3rd Street, and Tirumala Nagar Extension. Residents and businesses in these localities are advised to prepare for a temporary disruption to the electricity supply.
Coimbatore Areas to be Affected
In Coimbatore, power supply will remain suspended in Ellapalayam, Telugupalayam, Pillaiyappanpalayam, Krishnagowdarputhur, Annamalai Nagar, Velayudhanpalayam, Chemmanichettipalayam, and Sandhya Nagar.
In addition, several areas under the Neelampur Sub-station will also experience the scheduled power outage. These include Neelampur, Mudalipalayam, Cherayambalayam, Vellanapatti, and Boundary Association.
The Electricity Board stated that the shutdown is necessary to carry out essential maintenance and improve the reliability of the power supply. Electricity will be restored immediately after the work is finished, provided there are no technical delays.
Advisory for Residents
People living in the affected areas are advised to charge mobile phones, laptops and other essential devices before the outage begins. Businesses and households that depend on electricity should plan their activities accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Residents are also requested to cooperate with the maintenance teams and stay updated through official announcements in case there are any changes to the schedule or restoration time.
