As Char Dham Yatra 2025 approaches, devotees from across the world are preparing for this sacred pilgrimage. The Char Dham Yatra is one of the most important religious journeys in Hinduism, taking pilgrims to four holy shrines - Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. These sites are not only religious landmarks but are also believed to help in spiritual growth and enlightenment.

Yatra Begins on April 29, 2025
The Char Dham Yatra 2025 will begin from Yamunotri on April 29, 2025. The Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, is located in Uttarkashi district. To reach this temple, pilgrims must trek 6 kilometers from Janki Chatti. The temple was originally built by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal.
Next, the journey moves to Gangotri Temple, which is situated at 3,048 meters above sea level. This temple is dedicated to the River Ganges and is a significant place of worship.
Sacred Sites of Kedarnath and Badrinath
The third destination of the Char Dham Yatra is Kedarnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The temple stands at 3,584 meters and is surrounded by the Himalayas. According to legends, the Pandavas built the original temple, which was later restored by Adi Shankaracharya.
The last stop of the pilgrimage is Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Badrinarayan (Vishnu). The temple houses a 3.3-meter black stone idol and dates back to the Vedic Age. It has been renovated multiple times, but the inner sanctum remains untouched.
