Summer Special Trains

Central Railway has said it will operate 1,484 summer special trains. These will include 749 reserved trains and 735 unreserved services for passengers travelling to different destinations within and outside Maharashtra. The special services will consist of both regular on-demand trains and additional trains introduced to handle the seasonal increase in passenger traffic.

Routes to Cover

Within Maharashtra, several special trains will run on important routes, including Mumbai to Daund, Pune to Kolhapur, Nashik Road to Badnera, and Hadapsar to Harangal. For passengers travelling outside the state, special trains will connect Mumbai with cities such as Ballia and Gorakhpur. Other services will operate between Daund and Kalaburagi, Solapur and Kalaburagi, as well as routes reaching Anakapalle.
Why is the Initiative taken?
Railway officials said the decision has been taken to help passengers plan their travel early and avoid last-minute problems during the peak holiday season. To handle the expected rise in passenger numbers, the railway administration has also strengthened passenger facilities and made several operational improvements across the network. Officials added that detailed schedules, timings, and stoppage information for these special trains will be announced soon.

Moreover, Indian Railways plans to use artificial intelligence tools to study ticket searches, waiting lists, and passenger demand. Based on this data, more trains may be introduced on high-demand routes. The current plan has been prepared using travel data from last year for now, with the option to increase services if needed.
