Central Railway to Shut Down Online Services, Divert Trains for Maintenance Work; Check Details

Good news for travelers who frequently use Central Railway services! The railway authorities have announced a short maintenance break to upgrade their online reservation system and improve service quality. This planned update will temporarily affect ticket bookings and other online services for a few hours. Additionally, a special traffic block will be carried out on the Kalyan-Badlapur route to enhance railway infrastructure. While these changes may cause some inconvenience, they are essential for making train travel safer and more efficient. Read on to find out all the details and how you can plan your journey accordingly.

Central Railway to Shut Down Services

Temporary Shutdown of Online Services

The Central Railway will temporarily shut down its online Passenger Reservation System (PRS) for maintenance. The system will be unavailable from 11.45 pm on March 29 to 3.45 am on March 30, 2025. During this period, passengers will not be able to book or cancel tickets online. However, those needing to apply for Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) refunds can still do so as per standard procedures. The railway authorities have advised passengers to book their tickets in advance and cooperate during this brief downtime.

Impact on Ticketing and Other Services

While the system is offline, several essential services will be unavailable. These include:
- Ticket booking and cancellation
- Reservation refunds and seat allocation charting
- Train scheduling operations
- Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) inquiries
- Current reservations and chart displays
- Touchscreen information services at stations
- Refund counters at ticket and coaching terminals

Passengers are encouraged to complete their ticketing activities before the shutdown to avoid inconvenience.

Special Traffic Block on Kalyan-Badlapur Route

In addition to the online system update, Central Railway has scheduled a special traffic and power block on the Kalyan-Badlapur route. The block will take place on March 30, from 1:30 am to 4:30 am. During this time, railway workers will replace girders from an old road bridge with a new pipeline bridge to improve public safety. Train services on the affected lines will be temporarily suspended between Ambarnath and Badlapur.

Changes in Train Routes

Due to the traffic block, several long-distance trains will be diverted. The following trains will now travel via Karjat, Panvel, and Diva instead of their usual routes:
- Bhubaneswar-CSMT Konark Express
- Visakhapatnam-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express
- Hussain Sagar-CSMT Superfast Express
- Hosapete-CSMT Express
- Chennai-CSMT Express

These diversions are necessary to ensure the safe execution of the railway improvement project.

Railway Authorities Request Passenger Cooperation

Central Railway has assured that these maintenance activities are essential for providing better services in the future. While there may be some inconvenience during the system update and traffic block, these measures will enhance the overall safety and efficiency of train travel. Passengers are requested to stay updated on these changes and plan their journeys accordingly.

By undertaking these updates, Central Railway is working towards a more reliable and passenger-friendly train service. Travelers can look forward to improved facilities and smoother operations after these upgrades are completed.
