Big Boost for Kerala Railways: 32 Stations to Be Upgraded, New Trains Announced

In a big announcement from New Delhi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the railway sector in Kerala will receive Rs 3,042 crore for development. This is a much bigger amount than what was given during the UPA government's tenure. The budget increase will help modernize railway stations and improve train services in the state.

Railway Stations and New Trains

The minister also said that 32 railway stations in Kerala will be upgraded. These improvements will make train travel smoother and more comfortable for passengers.

In addition, 200 new Vande Bharat trains will be introduced across the country. The plan also includes 100 Amrit Bharat trains, 50 Namo Bharat rapid rail services, and 17,500 general AC coaches. These new trains will offer faster, safer, and more comfortable travel options for passengers.

Full Electrification and Major Budget Plans

The railway sector is moving towards 100% electrification, which is expected to be completed by 2025-26. This step will help reduce pollution and make train travel more energy efficient.

A total of Rs 2,52,000 crore has been given as budget support for the railways. A big part of this amount, Rs 1.08 lakh crore, will be used for safety improvements. This includes better tracks, modern signalling systems, and the Kavach safety system to prevent accidents.

Also, 40,000 conventional coaches will be converted to Vande Bharat standard, making train journeys more modern and comfortable.

Better Connectivity and Modern Technology

The budget will also focus on better goods transport by improving port connectivity, mineral and cement corridors, and high-traffic routes. Investments in solar energy and other green technologies will help make the railways more eco-friendly.

Better Wi-Fi at railway stations, digital ticketing services, and modern staff training will make train travel more convenient for passengers.

With these changes, the railway sector in Kerala and the rest of India is set for a big transformation. The focus on modernization, safety, and sustainability will make train travel easier, safer, and more comfortable for everyone.
