Residents across several parts of Bhopal are set to experience scheduled power cuts on Tuesday, July 14, as the electricity department undertakes NHAI line shifting, Metro project works, line maintenance, and installation of DTR poles across the city.
According to the power utility, more than 70 localities will witness temporary electricity disruptions between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with outage durations varying from one area to another. Residents are advised to complete essential work in advance and make necessary arrangements before the scheduled shutdown.
Why is there a power cut today?
The electricity department has scheduled maintenance and infrastructure works, including NHAI line shifting, Metro-related development, routine line maintenance and DTR pole installation, to strengthen the city's power distribution network and improve long-term supply reliability.

Reason for the Outage
Officials said the shutdown has been planned to facilitate line shifting for NHAI projects, Metro construction work, routine maintenance, and installation of distribution transformer (DTR) poles. These works are aimed at improving the efficiency and reliability of the city's electricity network.
Advisory for Residents
Residents in the affected areas are advised to:
- Charge mobile phones, laptops and power banks before the scheduled outage.
- Ensure inverters and UPS systems are fully charged.
- Complete water storage and other essential household tasks in advance.
- Avoid using elevators during the scheduled maintenance period.
- Keep emergency lighting arrangements ready until electricity supply is restored.
